Question of the Week
25 July 2010
Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

"You were buried with him in baptism,
in which you were also raised with him
through faith in the power of God,
who raised him from the dead."

- Colossians 2:12

Daily Readings

Sunday Scripture Readings and Gospel:
 Luke 11:1-13

Reflection:  In Luke's Gospel, the disciples want to be taught by Jesus how to pray.  Jesus gives the model for prayer: praise God, put our petitions before Him and ask for forgiveness.  He is always there to hear our needs and desires.  "Ask and you will receive, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened."  It is our willingness and persistence in our prayer life/faith to surrender our needs to God.  He is our Father who is always faithful to his children.

Reflective Question:  What are my deepest needs?  What keeps me from bringing these needs to God and asking God for help in meeting these needs?

Faith Response:  I will take time each day to improve the frequency and quality of my prayer.
