Leah was ugly
Joseph was abused
Moses had a stuttering problem
Gideon was afraid
Sampson had long hair and was a womanizer
Rahab was a prostitute
Jeremiah and Timothy were too young
David had an affair and was a murderer
Elijah was suicidal |
Isaiah preached naked
Jonah ran from God
Naomi was a widow
Job went bankrupt
John the Baptist ate bugs
Peter denied Christ
The Disciples fell asleep while praying
Martha worried about everything
The Samaritan woman was divorced, more than once
Zaccheus was too small
Paul was too religious
Timothy had an ulcer...AND
Lazarus was dead! |
No more excuses now!!
Get up and get going; God can use you to your full
potential.
Besides you aren't the message, you are just the

Transition House
In keeping with our First Friday Tradition, we will be preparing
and serving the evening meal at Transition House. Transition House is
a community sponsored temporary home for families with children. It helps
them become independent, self-sufficient citizens. If you wish to help,
call Angie Ferraro at 563-3945.

Santa's Workshop
|
Parents & Teenagers, please bring gently worn
toys in need of repair or paint for our Santa’s Workshop.
Toys can be dropped off in front of the Parish Hall
beginning Nov. 13th. We will be asking pre-teens and
teenagers to help paint, repair, wrap and tag toys on Dec.
2,3, & 4. We will begin at 6 p.m. and conclude at 8 p.m. On
Sunday Dec. 2nd, we will also be decorating the Parish
Hall. All toys will be given to the economically poor
children living in Carpinteria and Santa Barbara.
Our Lady of Mt. Carmel will be planning our 7th
"Santa's Workshop" in November-December 2007.
We are looking for teenage helpers! This exciting
program is fun and will bring special meaning to
economically deprived children.
We are asking pre-teens and teenagers to help paint,
repair, wrap, and tag toys.
If you have a teenage son or daughter, please encourage
him/her to join us for whatever length of time possible.
We will begin 6:00pm and conclude at 8:00pm.
Hopefully, some teenagers will be available to deliver these
gifts. During the month a group of adults will meet to
discuss what is needed for Santa's Workshop. They are
enthusiastic and look forward to planning this event.
On Sunday, teenagers will gather to
decorate the hall so it will look like Santa's Workshop.
Christmas music and refreshments will add to our
festivities. You too, are more than welcome to join
us. If your children have old toys in good or fairly good
condition, please bring them to the Parish Hall,
beginning the week before Thanksgiving, Nov. 13. We're looking forward
to a wonderful Santa's Workshop! |
The Giving Tree
|
You and your family are invited to the Parish Hall on
Sun. Nov. 18th after the 10 A.M. Mass to decorate ornaments for the
Giving Trees. Please join us for coffee, donuts, cappuccino and
special treats.

Ecumenical Reach-Out
| The community of Churches in Montecito (OLMC, All Saints
by the Sea, El Montecito Presbyterian, & Montecito Covenant) participated in a Joint Ecumenical project
at El Montecito Presbyterian Church in December 2006.
Parishioners prepared kits for Caregivers in Africa who are
ministering to young children, women, and men who are dying
from AIDS. Thanks to all who donated $20 to cover the cost of one Carekit. Each Church committed to purchasing 250 Carekits. |
